Donna Maxine tells us in the foreword of this book: “People will undoubtedly know Andy Saunders through his work designing cars, but within the pages of this book he clearly demonstrated the free thinking ability of a creative man with the open-mindedness to recognise that this original book needed to be written”.
This is an extraordinary read, which is far more than just an autobiographical account of the death of Andy’s father but, obviously, this plays a big part in the way the book was created. Subtitled A Spiritual Journey for the Layman, the script covers many aspects of spirituality, including everything from healing to the wonders of mathematics and astronomy.
‘MY FATHER’S DEATH’ offers help on many different levels including an array of alternative therapies, natural medicines and the power of healing – and we are assured that all of these work. Andy tells us: “By sharing this knowledge with you may indeed at sometime in your own or a family member’s life be able to help during illness where modern medicine cannot.
“The book may also help the healing of an individual going through bereavement just by its completely honest and compassionate recollection of a journey through one of the worst experiences any human being will have to endure.
“But above all, it will serve as a compelling introduction to the depths of spirituality for many people who may be closed to its reality”.
We are fortunate that this book ever made it to print, as Andy’s diary and personal notes were written for the pure reason of healing and he had no intention of making a book out of them. But through the guidance of his clairvoyant, his diary notes soon became a book. However, I suspect that our PW Editor in Spirit may have also had a big hand in guiding Andy in the right direction. Although Andy himself describes it as a “quite incredible coincidence”, he tells us in the book: “I had been recommended to Con-Psy Publications by Di the clairvoyant and on first contacting them and asking to speak with Ray Taylor (BA), I was told that he too had passed away with cancer – on December 20th of the year before, with Con-Psy now being run by his daughter, Candy Taylor. Candy told me Ray now holds the position of ‘Editor in Spirit’ for Con-Psy’s sister company, ‘Psychic World’, an independent monthly Spiritualist newspaper, which is fabulous. Candy asked me to send my manuscript in and that, as they say, is history. Three very different creative people all losing their fathers during a short time and each taking forward their separate legacies”.
‘MY FATHER’S DEATH’, has a wealth of information and will be of particular interest to anyone starting out on their spiritual journey. The book is also a fitting tribute to Andy’s father and will be of great comfort to anyone who has lost a loved one and finding themselves struggling to cope with the emptiness.
As Spiritualists, we are all aware that death is not an end, but it does not stop us from grieving the loss of the physical contact we sometimes take for granted.
The author sums up the book best when he tells us: “This is an explanation of my diary of love for my dad after his passing. It then moves into a very open description of personal healing and finishes with a list of factual books that will blow your mind, written with the hope that one day the information here might just be able to help you or a loved one through illness. All in all it is an open account of healing and the long journey of self-growth after desolation”.
Andy Saunders has a great talent for the written work and ‘MY FATHER’S DEATH’ will be a most welcome addition to any bookshelf.
Very Highly Recommended

On visiting the cancer ward last month to give all of the staff one of his books Andy was emotionally taken back to the time when his Dad had his last stay in there back in 2008 by a family walking up the stairs with big puffy eyes , the feeling of their shock and grief staring Andy in the face. Andy said instantaneously he was transported back to that time he was told there is nothing more they could do for his Dad.
When he started talking to one of the nurses he was informed that although Poole is the best cancer ward in the south outside of London and had 38 beds just three years ago, TEN of them have now been closed in an effort to save money! In that moment Andy decided that every single penny from the sales of his book must go to sponsoring this ward.
From this print-run Andy hopes to raise £10,000 for them so please please order one as this money will be going completely to the NHS...
All of this may sound quite ridiculous, even far fetched to anyone without knowledge of this situation but Andy, through his deep involvement with such bureaucratic nonsense as he has found himself involved in over the past few years has been starting to study the outcome of bureaucracy and the way in which the media are somehow stifled in saying anything that the government don’t want. This being so relevant recently with 75,000 bikers causing chaos in the UK with their protest about EU legislation, 75,000 people with personal views about one issue brought this country to a stand still and yet NOT ONE STORY made it to the media, funny that isn’t it? The country of democracy ???
Andy wrote to David Cameron about the closure of these beds in Poole and the general cut backs in NHS enclosing a copy of his book and asking the question why? And you guessed it the reply letter was farcical. It confirms that the NHS in general must make up a saving of £20 billion by 2015 but immediately states the CUT BACK MUST BE ON BUREAUCRACY AND NOT FRONT LINE CARE. Attached to this letter was a FOUR page questionnaire asking how efficiently I felt my letter had been replied to and handled, ( so where are the cut backs here then?) and then just to waste a little bit more money that the NHS CAN NOT AFFORD there was a pre-paid envelope! It is so good to see that they are implementing their policies so well ?
The New NHS slogan should be "Keep a bureaucrat sack a doctor!" At least when one of your family members get ill you will know that there will be someone there to fill in a form or give you an envelope !
Anyway if any of this has touched you please place an order for Andy’s book as the NHS desperately need this money!
